Siaya Governor James Orengo has suspended all the county procurement and pending bills to pave way for a prpper audit of the funds.
While dismissing the announcement made over the allocation of Sh.70 Million to the construction of his new residence and that of his deputy as premature Orengo said the officers made the announcement without authorization.

The Governor pointed out that the construction of the residence is currently not a priority to the county government and that their priority is to improve the lives of the residents.
“Construction of Governor and Deputy Governor’s residence is not a priority of Siaya County Government,” said Orengo.
Immediate Suspension
Orengo further announced an immediate halt to all procurement services within the county, save for emergency supplies for the public hospitals and sanitation.
If for any reason we find a bill that was not authorized in accordance with appropriate statutes and laws, we will not allow such to be paid

The Governor has however stated that the county is yet to receive any budget allocated funds and that there has not been any meeting to allocate the said funds also.
He also said that a special audit will be carried out on the pending bills to determine their authenticity.
“If for any reason we find a bill that was not authorized in accordance with appropriate statutes and laws, we will not allow such to be paid,” said Orengo.
