For Roots party, it is like Presidential candidate, like running mate.

The party now claims that China is loaning Kenya the money it makes from bhang growing.

According to the party’s presidential running mate Justina Wambui, Kenya is able to plant bhang and make its own money.

Wambui says Roots government will turn Galana Kulalu irrigation project into bhang plantation.

So why should we take handouts from China which is marijuana money at high interest, yet we have arable land, labour

Justina Wambui

This, she says, will provide enough land for marijuana production, hence boost the country’s income, to save it from high interest loans.

“In 2021, Chine planted 159, 000 acres of marijuana, and they made USD1.2 billion,” said Wambui.

She added: “Now, here is China that has given us loans, meaning we are already spending China’s marijuana money in our project.”

“So, if you do the maths, 159, 000 acres only giving USD1.2 billion, and we have one million acres at Galana Kulalu project that failed.”

“So why should we take handouts from China which is marijuana money at high interest, yet we have arable land, labour?”

Wajackoya approval

Wambui’s sentiments were echoed by the party’s presidential candidate George Wajackoya who said there is money in marijuana.

Wajackoya said his government will suspend the constitution to allow for radical actions such as legalizing marijuana.

We are going to grow it and export it. There are so many companies that have their hands hanging up, telling me there is ready market for the product

George Wajackoya

“We are going to grow it and export it. There are so many companies that have their hands hanging up, telling me there is ready market for the product,” said Wajackoya.

He said 22 states in the United States have now legalized growing of marijuana.

The same, he says is fast being accepted in Africa, with a number of countries now growing the weed for commercial purposes.
