In response to recent allegations of a brewing boundary dispute between Kisumu and Vihiga counties, Kisumu Governor  Anyang’ Nyong’o has clarified the claims that residents of Vihiga were facing eviction.

Governor Nyong’o firmly stated that these allegations are unfounded, emphasizing that the boundaries between the two counties are well-established and not in contention.

Instead, he revealed that the recent activities in Maseno were part of a broader urban transformation effort, following the town’s elevation to a municipality.

This means any illegal structure built on road reserves must be removed because residents want a well-planned and clean town

“Maseno was recently elevated into a Municipality, and what is going on is a normal physical planning activity to transform Maseno into an urban center befitting a Municipality status,”explained Nyong’o

“This means any illegal structure built on road reserves must be removed because residents want a well-planned and clean town,” he continued.

Notices

Regarding the alleged leaflets, Governor Nyong’o clarified that they were official notices to traders, instructing them to dismantle illegal structures and shanties constructed on road reserves.

He urged traders to cooperate with local administration for the town’s betterment.

“People of Vihiga are free to do business in Maseno just like other communities, without any discrimination,’ said Nyong’o

Nyong’o also reaffirmed his strong relationship with Vihiga Governor Wilbur Otichilo and their joint commitment to maintaining peace in Maseno.
