Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga and eight other petitioners on Monday, August 22nd filed a presidential petition seeking to overturn William Ruto’s win.
The Judiciary has since published the timelines in the determination of presidential election petition.
The Schedule
According to the schedule all the petitioners will be required to serve the respondents in their petitions on Tuesday August 23rd.
Interlocutory applications will be filed and served on Monday, August 29, and consequent responses to the applications filed on Tuesday, August 30
Judiciary
The respondents in the case, William Ruto and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)will then be given four days to compile their responses and file them at the registry by Saturday, August 27.
The petitioners will then file their rejoinders (a reply to issues raised by the respondents) on Sunday, August 28.
A pre-trial conference will then be held for one day on Tuesday, August 30.
“Interlocutory applications will be filed and served on Monday, August 29, and consequent responses to the applications filed on Tuesday, August 30,” read the Judiciary notice in part.
Interlocutory applications made by any of the third parties in the petition is set for Wednesday, August 31st.
Judgement
The petitions will be heard by the seven Supreme Court Judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome from Wednesday, August 31.
According to the law, the Supreme Court is expected to deliver the judgement 14 days after the petitions are filed.
The judgment is set for Monday, September 5th.
