Former East Africa Chief Administrative Secretary Ken Obura is set to face Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o in ODM primaries in April.

This follows a consensus reached between former Governor Jack Ranguma, Senator Fred Outa, former Speaker Onyango Oloo, and Obura himself.

The four have been campaigning as a team, seeking to unseat Nyong’o.

The team christened ‘Team Unbwogeable’ on Friday declared support for Obura, whom they said will face Nyong’o in the ODM primaries.

Outa who read the resolution on behalf of the four said despite all the four having had desire to face Nyong’o, they resolved to pick one of them so as to increase the chances of unseating him.

“We had a consensus, and agreed that the person who will carry the ODM flag is none other than Ken Obura,”

He added: “We are convinced that Nyong’o’s administration has failed to fulfil the aspirations of the residents. It is in this context, that we have come together to fix the mess.”

The team admitted that ODM’s 2017 primaries were compromised, and that there are possibilities of a repeat.

“We have reached a consensus, that should we feel shortchanged in the nominations, then we will unleash another candidate under Azimio who will square it out with Nyong’o on August 9,” he added.

Obura accepted the endorsement, saying he was ready to ensure he sends Nyong’o home.
