Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o has congratulated the County Assembly for successfully electing Speaker Elisha Jack Oraro.

Oraro garnered 25 votes out of the 47 cast in the second round of voting.

He will be serving his second term.

Let us now look forward to constructive and productive work as we develop Kisumu on the foundation we have laid

Nyong’o

In his congratulatory statement, Nyong’o said the re-election will enable Oraro to continue the good work he has done during his first term in office.

The Governor called upon the speaker and his team to work with the county government in developing Kisumu.

“Let us now look forward to constructive and productive work as we develop Kisumu on the foundation we have laid,” read the statement in part.

Further, he said Azimio will advance Third Liberation by building a national, democratic and developmental state in Kenya.

This he said will be achieved in the spirit of the County’s manifesto ‘Tich Tire.’

Elisha Oraro

Oraro said he will work with his team to safeguard public trust by working with integrity and in a manner that brings order and dignity to the County.

“I solemnly affirm that I will perform my functions in this House with diligence, dignity and honour,” Oraro said.

He further urged assembly members to maintain loyalty in exercising the sovereign power of the people through legislation, representation and oversight of state officers.

Oraro assured that he will work with all the elected and nominated members in discharging the house’s mandate.

In addition, he thanked the ODM party and entire leadership for trusting him with the mandate to steer the house for another five years.
