Government Spokesman Col Cyrus Oguna has urged the youth in Bungoma to make use of government youth empowerment programs.
Speaking at Bungoma Salvation Army Town Citadel, Oguna highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure the youth are exposed to various opportunities.
He however faulted the youth for failing to exploit the available opportunities.
“We have engaged the young people here today on government programs such as Ajira Digital, Kazi Mtaani, Kenya Youth Enterprise Development Fund and a range of relatively significant government programs that are out to benefit the young people,” said Oguna.
While we encourage the young people to venture into online-based opportunities and earn a living from them, we also caution them to uphold basic ethical practices such as paying taxes

“The goal is to spread our youth so that while some are making use of Kazi Mtaani, we can have others benefitting from Ajira Digital and the rest,” he furthered.
Roles
Oguna acknowledged the role of the youth in the country’s development noting that the government is working towards ensuring that they thrive economically.
“It is only through empowerment that the young people can contribute to the country’s development. Without empowerment, there is no doubt the youth will be indulging in crime,” he said.
Oguna further warned the youth against violence as he urged them to uphold ethical practices while making use of online-based opportunities.
“While we encourage the young people to venture into online-based opportunities and earn a living from them, we also caution them to uphold basic ethical practices such as paying taxes,” said Oguna.
