Shedrack Okindo is an independent candidate for Kisumu Governor seat.
In just a few days all aspirants in the August 9, polls will be presenting their details to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Among the details are individuals picked for the position of running mates, for people like Okindo.

And in what he calls a strategy to not only clinch the seat, but also deliver according to his manifesto, Okindo has commenced the search for a running mate.
In his mission, Okindo has spelt out a number of strict qualifications for the lady he wants as his running mate.
The qualifications
One such qualification is a person who is strong in the mind.
“I want a lady who understands the political landscape of this area, and will be able to bring some value in our campaign,” he told Lake Region Bulletin.
According to Okindo, he has no preferred area where the running mate should come from.
“To me, the tribe does not matter. As long as it is someone who has Kisumu at heart,” he said.
But Okindo wants someone who is honest, active and ready to work for the people of Kisumu.
Okindo who quit Usawa Party has been campaigning on the basis of empowering the less poor.
Economic revolution
In his manifesto titled ‘Economic Revolution’, Okindo says his agenda is based on household economic model which aims at raising the living standards of the people.
“We want people to have money in their pockets. It is only through this that they can participate in the development of their county,” he said.
And to actualize this, Okindo says he is looking for a lady who is ready to work with the people, and has networks within the corners of Kisumu.

“I am not very keen on work experience, but she has to be someone aged between 30 and 50 who is energetic and ready to work,” he said.
He added: “She must be someone who can work without supervision, and will be supporting my agenda.”
Social support
But Okindo would prefer that the person coming in can also provide some social and financial support to his campaign, either through self contribution or fundraising.
“We are getting into a campaign period, and I want someone who can support me through their own sources or their networks,” he said.
He however said that his campaign will not be too expensive as his style of politics does not embrace giving of handouts.
“We want to change the politics in this area, and provide people with opportunities rather than giving handouts,” he said.
Above all, this running mate candidate must not be a registered member of any political party.
