Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju is the head of Azimio Secretariat.

This follows his appointment by Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Rala Odinga.

In a communication released by Raila’s Head of Communication Denis Onyango on April 6, Tuju’s appointment takes effect immediately.

“As Executive Director, Tuju will coordinate all member parties of Azimio and will lead the strategic and program teams that will work to ensure Azimio victory in the August elections,” read the communication in part.

Tuju was one of the pioneer television news anchors in the country in the 1980s and 1990s, working with Kenya Television Network (KTN).

He also worked as a producer and director of several documentaries, radio and TV commercials for international agencies, public sector institutions, and private-sector bodies, before transitioning into corporate world.

Tuju who is also former Rarieda Member of Parliament was until February this year a Cabinet Secretary without portfolio in President Uhuru Kenyatta government.

He was also the Secretary General of Jubilee Party.

The Azimio coalition brings together over 20 political parties.
