Popular Luo Rhumba musician and producer John Erick Okumu alias Engineer Wuod Fibi is officially closing Barikiwa Studios.

The popular music production studio has produced a number of Luo Ohangla hit songs, transforming the Ohangla music industry.

Wuod Fibi will instead concentrate on his music career as a singer.

Wuod Fibi shocked his fans when he took to his social media page to announce the end of his music production career.

“In the month of April I will be closing down Barikiwa Studio to embark on my music career, being a producer is not easy, you have to sacrifice a lot to give the rest the best, the few fans I have for years have been starving. I have given production 90% and my own music 10%,” he proceeded.

He went ahead; “I am just a fraction of the best that are yet to come, it’s time to create room for freshness new ideas and creativity, and to my fans rhumba maestro is coming back bigger and stronger.”

Barikiwa Studios was started in 2013 at a time Wuod Fibi was in the limelight with his musical career.

He claimed he became a producer by chance and the journey has been successful, though bumpy.

Wuod Fibi has been a producer for various outstanding artists including ‘Adhiambo’ hit maker Prince Indah, Musa Jakadala of ‘Hera Remo’ and ‘Paroga Nyasuba’ hit maker Elisha Toto among many others.

With his latest single ‘Mari Mara’ featuring Prince Inda, Elisha Toto and Toto Shiqo Nyar Kisumo, all eyes are now set to see his comeback.
