The woman in question is a resident of the Bonchari constituency in Kisii county and was not in Embu as claimed by the post.

This post on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that the same woman accompanied President William Ruto while launching projects in both Kisii and Embu is FALSE.

The post reads: “The woman who took tea with William Ruto in  Embu is the same who operated and owner of a posho mill in Kisii. At this rate, we should start asking Yoweri Museveni to buy this country, because its President has no Capacity(sic).”

It is accompanied by a collage of photos capturing the woman with Ruto, serving a meal and taking tea.

The same claim also appears here, here and here

On August 13, 2024, President Ruto toured the Kisii region where he launched several projects which included connecting the family of the lady in contention to power.

Before he visited the Kisii region, President Ruto also did a similar tour in Embu County where he launched several projects

Was the woman in both counties?

A review of Ruto’s official Facebook page and X(formerly Twitter) account reveals that while the president was in the two counties, the women involved in the last mile electricity launches were different people as shown in updates about Embu on 7 August and  Kisii on 13 August 2024.

Ruto in Kisii(L), Ruto and Rigathi in Embu(R).

Further, a statement from the statehouse spokesperson, Hussein Mohammed, clarified that the woman in question hailed from Kisii and not Embu County.
