Gichugu IEBC official dies mysteriously in Nanyuki

Gichugu constituency returning officer Geoffrey Gitobu is dead.

The electoral official is said to havecollapsed outside IEBC offices in Nanyuki, Laikipia county.

The deceased was rushed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Off Duty

Kirinyaga county Returning Officer, Jane Gitonga said that Gitobu was on a three day leave when he decided to visit his family in Nanyuki.

The officer is said to have visited the Nanyuki IEBC offices to print some forms when the incidence occurred.

Police reports indicate that the cause of his death was not immediately identified.

Gitobu’s death comes just days after Embakasi East Returning officer Daniel Mbolu Musyoka was found murdered in Kajiado county.

Investigations on his murder are still on going.

IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati is yet to give a statement on the death of the Kirinyaga based Returning Officer.
