ODM nominates former Sol Generation member Crystal Asige to the Senate

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has nominated former Sol Generation member Crystal Asige to represent People With Disabilities in the Senate.

According to a publication by the Independent Electoral Boundaries and Commission on 25th July, Asige was nominated to represent women alongside Nickson Ochieng as the male representative.

Among those nominated are Secretary-General  Veronica Maina, Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru, Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege, Starehe MP Charles Njagua, Governor Ann Kananu and Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko.

Glaucoma condition

The UK Bristol University film and theatre graduate has been battling Glaucoma condition.

Glaucoma is an eye condition that causes damage to the optic nerve for vision which caused the white cane in her eye.

At the age of 16 she had hard time fighting for the outcome of the condition which made her be treated be as an outcast.

This affected her self-esteem.

In 2016, the condition worsened and she had to start using the cane.

She came back to Kenya and registered with National Council for People With Disabilities.

Asige has however adapted with her condition.

She has since done several projects with PWD’s including the MapAbillity, a tool that was created for everyone, especially for people who have difficulties accessing buildings in Nairobi.

Sol generation

Two years ago Asige joined Sol Generation and released Extravaganza in collaboration with the label artists.

However the musician parted ways with the group in over claims that they did not meet her standards.

She has since released two track with the latest tack being ‘Najijua’.
