IEBC receives first batch of ballot papers

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has received the first batch of ballot papers to be used in the August polls.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati together with the electoral officials received the papers on Thursday 7th July at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

While addressing the media, Chebukati dismissed the claims of a plot to rig the elections.

“We are not directed by any individual, constitution or authority; we are answerable only to the constitution,” he said.

Chebukati assured Kenyans that the commission is fully prepared for the elections.

He further noted that their main agenda is to conducted free, fair and transparent election.

Chebukati also revealed that the presidential ballots will be the last to be printed.

“Procurement has been finalized and what we are currently doing is the printing of ballot papers, which is ongoing,” he said.

He further urged Kenyans to beware of politicians who spread propaganda.
