No more political rallies in Kisumu town

Kisumu County Government has issued a notice to stop political campaigns in the Central Business District (CBD) and its environs.

According to the notice by the City Manager Abala Wanga, the political gatherings have threatened the managements bid to face lift and transform city.

This Notice serves to restrict politicians from holding political rallies within the CBD and it’s environ effective immediately

“The City Management has been unwearied in its bid to face lift and transform Kisumu City,it is with great concern that this process is being threatened by the ongoing political rallies,” read the notice in part.

The management further argued that the political campaigns have led to destruction of property in the city area.

“We have witnessed a lot of cases of vandalism and destruction of public property after the political gatherings,” it furthered.

It went ahead to state, “This Notice serves to restrict politicians from holding political rallies within the CBD and it’s environ effective immediately.”

Gubernatorial Candidate

The Friday 27th notice comes just in time when Kisumu gubernatorial candidate Jack Ranguma is scheduled to launch his campaign.

The City Management shall designate areas for political gatherings outside the CBD

However, the management noted the move is an attempt to stop the heinous acts of destruction of public property.

All the campaigns will now be away from the city centre.
