Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has dismissed the ongoing debate on the proposal to relocate Kisumu Boys’ High School.
Magoha termed the debate ‘mundane topic’ which he has no time for.
“I am so busy as the Minister in charge of Education to ensure that my children and grandchildren are admitted peacefully including the poor ones,” said Magoha.

“Would you want me to leave that one and think about mundane topics like that one?” he posed when journalists sought his opinion about the topic.
Magoha noted that every school was safe wherever they are.
Public Participation
“If there is an issue, when it comes to us, we can even take it to public participation,” he said.
He noted that should there be any plans to relocate any school, the community of the school must be involved.
“For example if you want to relocate a school, we have to ask the people there. We are a government of the people by the people,” he said.

Magoha was speaking when he visited Kisumu Girls’ High School on Saturday, to assess the ongoing Form One admission.
The debate on the relocation of the school emerged after Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o made the proposal.
Nyong’o said the school was occupying a prime land fit for revenue generating investments, and not a school.
But the proposal has elicited mixed reactions with some opposing the move.
Relocation of KB in my view conforms to the Master Plan dubbed Kisumu Physical and Land Use Development Plan (PLUDP). PLUDP had been submitted for public participation. KB will eventually be moved. This is not out of some malice whatsoever. Valid concerns from stakeholders equally need to be addressed.
