“I have been given a clean bill of health. I am now cancer free,” declared David Brooks.

The former Manchester City academy player is now Bournermouth skiper.

And his declaration comes amidst their promotion back to Premier League.

It has been a few months since my last update and in that time I have thankfully completed my cancer treatment

This must be a very exciting update on his battle against Hodgin lymphoma.

The 24-year-old Wales international was diagnosed following medical examinations in October 2021.

He was then on an international duty.

Good news

Brooks has only played nine times for the Cherries on this campaign, scoring three goals, before beginning his medical treatment.

However, the Manchester City academy product took it to social media to break this good news.

“It has been a few months since my last update and in that time I have thankfully completed my cancer treatment,” he wrote.

Last week I met my specialist having reviewed my final test results. I am delighted to say the treatment was successful and I can now say that I have been given the all clear and am now cancer free

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the incredible medical staff for the amazing work and support throughout the process,“ the post went on.

He proceeded: “Last week I met my specialist having reviewed my final test results. I am delighted to say the treatment was successful and I can now say that I have been given the all clear and am now cancer free.”

“Those words feel incredible to say and I am so thankful for all your messages and good wishes, these really helped me through the tough times.”

“I am so excited to start the journey back to full fitness and continuing my Football career.“

Ecxellent season

He pointed out that Bournemouth has had an excellent season and that he was prepared for the task ahead.

The Cherries were promoted after picking up the victory they needed against Nottingham Forest.

Bournermouth won 1-0, thanks to a dramatic late Kieffere Moore strike at the Vitality Stadium.

The victory secures a second spot in the championship table, with a game to spare.

With the automatic promotion places wrapped up by Bournemouth and Fulham, the battle to secure a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs will continue until the last day of the season.

With one promotion spot to the premier league remaining, six teams are set to contend for it as Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Milwall, Middlesbrough and Luton, all look set to fight for promotion.
