What next for Kenya after FIFA ban

Kenya has been suspended from all international football competitions by soccer’s world governing body FIFA.

This ban means no Kenyan team including all the clubs hoping to participate in the Confederation of  African Football (CAF) tournaments can play internationally.

The suspension

According to FIFA president Gianni Infantino Kenya was suspended because of government interference in the football activities of the countries football association.

Zibambwe was also banned for similar reasons.

“We had to suspend two of our member associations Kenya and Zimbabwe. Both for government interference in the activities of the football associations of these associations. These associations are suspended from footballing activities with immediate effect and they know what needs to be done for them to be re-admitted or for the suspension to be lifted,” said Infantino.

Reinstating FKF

This suspension also means that Football Kenya Federation (FKF) won’t benefit from any development programmes, courses or trainings from FIFA or CAF.

Kenya will remain suspended until FKF which was dissolved by the government last year is reinstated.
