The image was posted by Geoffrey Mosiria on his X and Instagram account on 27th, March 2024.

This X  post with an image purportedly of a young boy in a hospital in Eldoret after a nail was hammered in his skull is False.

According to the posts, the young boy was on 27th March 2025 awaiting a surgery at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret following the incident.

The image is accompanied by a caption that reads,

“A Grade 3 boy is admitted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting surgery after his stepmother hammered a nail into his head for boiling and eating an egg without permission. This woman doesn’t deserve jail-if it was up to me, Vietnam’s drug trafficking laws should apply to her. Men, be careful who you marry after divorcing your wife; a second wife often brings nothing but disaster. Ogopa stepmother”. As seen on the screen grab below.

The image of the boy which also appears here, and here claims the incident was reported after the boy’s stepmom purportedly hammered a nail on his head.

Many online media organizations escalated the spread of the information, using the posts to write media articles on the incident.

But did this incident happen in Eldoret?

A reverse image search shows that the image was first posted on the internet in October 2024.

Another social media post in 2024 claimed that the incident took place in Uganda, but this too was debunked by The Nile Post.

Verdict.

After a thorough search of the image, the Lake Region Bulletin established that the incident did not happen on 27th March 2024 in Eldoret as claimed by posts doing rounds. Therefore the post is out of context and misleading. However, we do not support any form of child abuse and gender-based violence.
