Kisumu ready to host KICOSA games in January

Kisumu will be hosting 9th edition of the Inter-counties’ games in January.

The annual event brings together workers drawn from the 47 county governments across the country in a bonding and learning session.

The event organizers in Kisumu have begun the preparations for the event to be hosted by Kisumu County Government from 15th January.

According to the County Secretary John Auma who is the chairman of the organizing committee various venues and institutions that will accommodate delegates from various counties have been confirmed.

“We are ready to host the games, we have started sprucing up the venues for the games. We want it to be the best ever Kicosca derby ever held since its inception in 2013,” said Auma.

Auma who is also chairman of the organizing committee was speaking Friday when he inspected Moi stadium which will host a number of games.

The Games

The games will feature 21 sports events.

Some of the games will include; football, volley ball, netball, scrabble, darts and golf.

In last year’s games, Nairobi County emerged overall winners with Kisumu finishing second while Uasin Gishu was ranked third.

Nairobi will also be defending her Athletics title while Kisumu will be relying on the Deputy Governor Mathew Owili to defend the Golf title. Embu is the defending soccer champions.

The officials said 27 Counties had confirmed participation by close of last week and more were expected to send their names.
