Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has officially unveiled his list of Cabinet nominees who will now proceed for vetting by the County Assembly.

Nyong’o made the announcement on Sunday giving a full all the 10 County Executive Committee (CEC) member nominees.

“I have appointed the following as Executive Committee Members in the respective departments as stated below in accordance with Article 198 of the Constitution, read in conjunction with Section 42 of the County Government Act (2012),” read the notice in part.

The list

Dr.Greg Ganda and John Awiti have been proposed for the Health and Sanitation and Education CECs respectively while Ken Onyango and Kennedy Hongo will lead the Agriculture and Lands depatrments.

George Omondi has been nominated as Finance and Economic Planning CEC while FaridaSalim has been recommended to take up the Trade and Tourism docket.

Judith Aluoch will lead the Public Service docket as Salmon Orimba takes on the Infrastructure department.

Maryline Yanzar Agwa will take up the Water department as Beatrice Odongo runs the Sports and Culture ministry.

Orimba had previously been nominated in an acting capacity in the water and climate change department, Okong’o in public service and Awiti doubled up as sports and culture nominee.

Petition

Last week one of the residents, Evans Oloo filed a case before the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Kisumu, seeking to have the list of CECs cancelled.

This was after an uproar that the nominees list lacked gender balance.

The cabinet now has four women.

On 8th October the Governor sacked three CECs as he restructured his new government.

The three CECs are Gilchrist Okuom (Agriculture), Dixon Obungu (Trade and Energy) and Achi Alai (Tourism, sports and Culture).
