Defense Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale has downplayed the fears of Kenyans living in Migingo Island.

Duale was facing the National Assembly’s Appointment Committee during the vetting of Cabinet nominees.

The Garissa Town MP was put to task over continued reports of Ugandan military harassing and arresting Kenyans at Migingo Island.

The panel had sought clarification from Duale on how he will handle the matter.

In his response, Duale said the matter was under control, and that relevant national and regional bodies are on the matter.

He said Government Boundary Committee working on the matter is yet to produce its final report.

The International Boundary Committee under the Office of the President is also dealing with the matter.

He however noted that the Kenya Defense Forces is responsible for the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the republic.

“Those who wanted to know the capability of KDF, they showed it in KDF day last week and will show during Mashujaa,” said the Defense nominee.

In almost similar matters regarding the two countries concerning General Muhoozi’s tweet to capture Nairobi, Hon. Duale said that he does not react to tweets.
