George Okode has been elected Siaya County Assembly Speaker for the third time in a row.
Okode garnered a whooping 38 votes against his main competitor Evans Oruenjo who got two votes out of the 40 members who took part in the elections.
Speaker Okode was first elected as Speaker in 2013, and has held the seat for two consecutive terms.
The lawyer was declared the winner for the third time in a row after surpassing the threshold out of the 12 individuals who had showed interest in the seat.
Three contestants had failed to submit their forms of nomination.
Seven others were later on dropped from the race for failing to meet certain critaria.
The assembly was brought to order at 9am by the acting clerk Erick Ogenga who led the swearing in, before the election of the speaker.
