Governor Nyong’o to represent East Africa in the FORAF Executive Council

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o will be representing East African Region in the Forum of African Regions(FORAF) Executive Committee.

FORAF is a continental body created by the General Assembly of the United Cities and Local governments of Africa (UCLG) in Morocco during the 8th Edition of Africities Summit.

The elections were conducted during its inaugural assembly held in Saidia, Kingdom of Morocco.

Taking to his social media Nyong’o said the forum will give an opportunity to the decentralized governments to work in unity towards advancing development and integration of governments.

“It presents an opportunity to share experiences of sub-national governments as well as other peers working in decentralized cooperation in Africa,” the Governor noted.

FORAF Management

Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi who also doubles up as the Nigeria Forum of Governors Chairman was elected President.

Dr Fayemi will represent the African Continent at the World Forum of Regions of UCLG at the World Congress to be held in South Korea in October.

Nyong’o will also work with Governor of Amoron I’Mania, Madagascar, who was elected the Vice President of the East African Region.

The management is decentralized to the five regions of Africa following the structure adopted by UCLG Africa.

Kenya was represented by Governors Fatuma Achani-Kwale, Benjamin Cheboi-Baringo, Dr Erick Mutai-Kericho and Irungu Kangata of Muranga.
