Former Nyatike MP Omondi Anyanga in court over gun assault

Former Nyatike Member of Parliament Edick Omondi Anyanga has been arraigned in Migori Law court over gun assault.

The ex-lawmaker was accused of shooting and injuring 35-year-old Justus Ochieng on Saturday night at Lwanda Konyango.

The former law maker appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Justice Johnston Munguti but did not take plea, after prosecutor requested more time for further investigation.

He was released on a cash bail of Sh300, 000, with the plea date set for August 25, 2022.

The shooting

Police on Saturday recovered a pistol SIG SAUVER 2022 serial number SP2022 and a magazine of 12 live ammunition calibre 9mm at his home after reports that he had shot the victim.

Anyanga served as Nyatike MP bwtween 2012 and 2017 before being toppled by incumbent Tom Odege.

He is however in the race to reclaim the seat on August 9, on UPIA party ticket.
