Ruto cleared by IEBC appoints Kindiki as presidential chief agent

Deputy President William Ruto has been cleared to run for President in the August polls.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman, Wafula Chebukati on Saturday presented Ruto with the clearance certificate.

Ruto was accompanied by his running mate Rigathi Gachagua.

The Kenya Kwanza presidential flagbearer thanked the IEBC for their role in ensuring Kenyans have credible elections.

“Mr chairman, we’re committed to the code of conduct we have signed… We are confident with your stewardship,” he said.

Chief Agent

The DP further revealed that Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki will be his chief agent in the presidential election.

He said that Kindiki will be the link between his presidential campaign secretariat and IEBC.

Kindiki will be assisted by UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina.

“Professor Kithure Kindiki who is here will be our chief agent assisted by Veronica Maina
and Josphat Nanok,” he said.

“These are the lady and gentlemen who will work with you to make sure that the
communication and relationship between us as candidates and the IEBC is
useful,” furthered Ruto.

Kindiki lost out the running mate position to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.
