Nyong’o gets IEBC nod to seek for a second term in office

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o was on Saturday, 4th May cleared by IEBC to run for the gubernatorial seat.

Nyong’o will be seeking for a second term in office under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

He was cleared alongside his Deputy Matthews Owili.

Nyong’o becomes the first candidate to be cleared to contest for the Kisumu gubernatorial race.

MDG’s Jack Ranguma who was the county’s first governor will be seeking IEBC clearance on Monday 6th.

Speaking to the press accompanied by MP’s Aduma Owuor (Nyakach), James Nyikal (Seme),Muranga Women Representative Sabina Chege among other Nyong’o expressed his confidence in clinching the seat.

“I want to thank IEBC for clearing me and I believe the win will be for the people of Kisumu,” said Nyong’o.

Nyong’o further called for the six-piece voting pattern for ODM candidates in the region.

He noted that every Kisumu citizen must vote solidly for candidates in Azimio.

“In Kisumu County, the ruling party is ODM and we must solidly vote for our candidates as Azimio forms the next government.”

Other candidates for the race include Shedrack Okindo who is contesting as an independent candidate.
