Kenyan musician Bahati has been handed the Jubilee party ticket to contest for Mathare parliamentary seat.

This comes weeks after the ‘Adhiambo’ hit maker was denied a chance vie for the seat after the zoning arrangement made within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance to reserve the seat for ODM.

Jubilee party secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni while handing him the ticket noted that he represents the face of the youthful population and was fit for the position.

Bahati’s official name is Kelvin Kioko.

“We are happy to have Bahati as he is a young person. He represents everything positive in this country,” said Kioni.

He further added that the decision to hand him the ticket was arrived at because he deserves an equal opportunity as a Kenyan to vie for an elective seat.

In response Bahati welcomed the move as he expressed his confidence in bringing the seat home.

“I can promise you that I am the next Mathare MP,” he said.

The 29 yearold musician will now face ODM’s Antony Oluoch among others in the August polls.
