Why I would shelve my Siaya gubernatorial race for Orengo, Charles Owino

Former Police Spokesman Charles Owino has hinted at a possibility of supporting Senator James Orengo for Siaya gubernatorial seat.

Mr Owino who is also a contender for the position in the forthcoming August 9, polls said he is capable of throwing his weight behind Orengo if called upon by ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and the elders.

Consensus

Speaking in a local TV show, Owino said the move would be for the sake of the party and in the spirit of consensus building that is currently gaining traction across the political divide.

“I have just joined politics and I still have a very bright political future ahead of me. I would not want to jeopardize that by fighting the same people I will be looking upon to support me in future,” he said.

But on the other hand he poured cold water on the candidature of Orengo describing him as an agitator and not a leader capable of running a county like Siaya.

He wondered how the two term senator intended to be elected governor yet he is yet to mount any serious campaigns in Siaya.

“My competitor has not erected any billboard, no posters and no serious campaign materials printed, yet he wants to be governor,” he said.

Owino said that nonetheless, he would still step down and support Orengo, adding that it would be unfair to drag Raila, the Azimio Presidential candidate.

  1. Orengo will not put any billboard. He will inform the people of Siaya few weeks to elections that he’s in the race. ONLY!
