The World Bank will give Kenya Sh22.7 billion to support projects that will improve food security in the country.
According to Vinay Kunar Vutukru, an Agricultural Economist at World Bank, there are negotiations between Kenya and the financier towards the advancement of the to be channeled into improvement of agriculture value chains in the country.
“We are currently in talks with the government with a view to continue our support to the agriculture sector to enhance food production,” said Vutukru during the launch of a five-year Migration and Invasive Pests and Weed Management Strategy 2022-2027 in Nairobi.
The World Bank is currently funding various projects in the agricultural sector valued at sh56.8 billion, and Kenya is expected to receive the new loan within the next two months.
