Kisumu County Assembly employees have been given ten days out of work to allow them mobilize voter listing.

Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro on Thursday, January 27, said during the period, the assembly will take stock of their 2021 achievements and lay a roadmap for 2022.

He said only staff providing essential services will continue to report to work.

“It is in light of this that today Thursday, January 27, ,2022, I have released all staff of the Assembly to go for a  ten days’ recess up to February 6, 2022 to spearhead voter registration campaigns within their villages during the remaining days of national voter listing,” said the Speaker.

The move came barely a week after Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o also released all the county staffs to move to the villages and mobilize eligible voters to register.

The ongoing voter registration has registered disappointing figures according to the latest reports released by IEBC.

The Speaker urged members of the public to turn up in large numbers to register as voters.
